For Immediate Release:

Electric Earth Concerts presents Summer Winds on Wednesday, July 12 at the First Church in Jaffrey at 7 pm.

Winds are center-stage in this concert, a crescendo that starts with Paul Ben-Haim’s intimate Chamber Music for flute & strings, moves to Mozart’s grand Quintet for winds and piano, K.452, and culminates with Ernö von Dohnányi’s passionate Sextet for winds, strings, and piano. The players will include Laura Gilbert, flute, Adrian Morejon, bassoon, Stephen Taylor, oboe, Gabriela Díaz, violin, Benjamin Fingland, clarinet, Jonathan Bagg, viola, William Purvis, horn, Thomas Kraines, cello, and Mihae Lee, piano.

Spotlight: Stephen Taylor, an accomplished solo, chamber, and orchestral musician, is one of the most sought-after oboists in the country. He currently holds the Mrs. John D. Rockefeller III Solo Oboe Chair with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the Lockwood/Bury Principal Oboe Chair with the Orchestra of St. Luke’s and is co-principal oboist of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.

“…the real prize here is the Sextet, a lush, lyrical, stupendously engaging work from one of the few composers (Dohnányi) who was able to express humor in his music.”  –David Hurwitz, Classics Today
